What is a Stand Up Pouch (doypack)?
Stand Up Pouch(Doypack) refers to a flexible packaging bag with a horizontal support structure at the bottom, which does not rely on any support and can stand on its own regardless of whether the bag is opened or not.
Overview of stand-up pouches
The English name of the stand-up bag originated from the French Thimonier company. In 1963, Mr. M.Louis Doyen, the CEO of the French Thimonier company, successfully applied for the patent of the Doypack. Since then, doypack has become the official name of the stand-up bag.By the 1990s, it was widely recognized in the American market, and then popularized all over the world.
Stand-up pouch is a relatively new form of packaging, which has advantages in many aspects such as upgrading product grades, enhancing shelf visual effects, portability, ease of use, freshness preservation and sealability. The stand-up pouch is made of laminated PET/FOIL/PET/PE structure, and can also have 2 layers, 3 layers and other specifications of materials, depending on the different products to be packaged, an oxygen barrier protective layer can be added as needed to reduce the oxygen permeability rate,extend the shelf life of the product.
Application range of stand up pouch
Stand-up pouch packaging is mainly used in snacks, juice drinks, sports drinks, bottled drinking water, inhalable jelly, condiments and other products. In addition to the food industry, the application of some washing products, daily cosmetics, medical supplies and other products is also gradually increasing .
Classification of stand up bags
Stand-up bags are basically divided into the following five types:
1.Ordinary stand-up pouch:
The general form of stand-up pouch, which adopts the four-sealing form, cannot be re-closed and repeatedly opened. This kind of stand-up pouch is generally used in the industrial supplies industry.
2.Stand-up pouch with nozzle:
The stand-up pouch with suction nozzle is more convenient to pour or absorb the contents, and at the same time, it can be reclosed and opened repeatedly. It can be considered as the combination of stand-up pouch and ordinary bottle mouth. This kind of stand-up pouch is generally used in daily necessities packaging for liquid, colloid, and semi-solid products such as beverages, shower gels, shampoos, ketchup, edible oil, and jelly.
3. Stand-up pouch with zipper:
Stand-up pouches with zippers can also be reclosed and re-opened. Since the zipper is not closed very well and the closure strength is limited, this form is not suitable for packaging liquids and volatile substances. According to the different edge sealing methods, it is divided into two types: four-edge sealing and three-edge sealing. Four-edge sealing means that the product package has a layer of ordinary edge sealing besides the zipper seal when it leaves the factory. The ordinary edge sealing needs to be torn off before use. Then use the zipper to realize repeated sealing. This method solves the disadvantage that the zipper edge sealing strength is small and is not conducive to transportation. The three-side seal is directly sealed with a zipper seal, which is generally used to hold lightweight products. Stand-up bags with zippers are generally used to pack some light solids, such as candy, biscuits, jelly, etc., but stand-up bags with four sides can also be used to pack heavier products such as rice and cat litter.
4. Mouth-like stand-up pouch:
The mouth-like stand-up pouch combines the convenience of a stand-up pouch with a suction nozzle and the cheapness of an ordinary stand-up pouch. That is, the function of the suction nozzle is realized by the shape of the bag body itself. However, mouth-like stand-up pouches cannot be re-sealed. Therefore, they are generally used in the packaging of disposable liquid, colloid, and semi-solid products such as beverages and jellies.
5. Shaped stand-up pouch:
That is, according to the packaging needs, new stand-up pouches of various shapes are produced on the basis of changes on the basis of traditional bag shapes, such as waist design, bottom deformation design, handle design, etc. It is the main direction for the value-added development of stand-up pouches.
